LCDs and plasma TVs to sell well in Q1, say retailers
Sales of LCD and plasma TVs could continue at the pace seen in December in the following two months, as well, say FitDistribution and PCfun.ro officials. "We base our statement on the demand that comes from our customers, as well as from potential new customers, who noticed the new prices," Traian Cristea, general manager of Pcfun.ro told ZIARUL FINANCIAR. "Starting in 2007 and due to the change in the import regime, we have managed to cut sale prices by 30% on average. Under the circumstances, we estimate that demand will increase by possibly as much as 300% at first, this year," added Cristea. In the case of Pcfun.ro, Samsung was the first producer to cut prices of LCD TVs, by up to 35% compared with the prices at the end of last year. PCfun officials think Samsung is the first on a list of producers that are to cut prices. However, not all prices will be lower than in December, given that the major players on the electronics market conducted an aggressive pricing campaign last month in order to capitalise on the Christmas rush.
